Daytona Beach Area Home Sales Increase
The News-Journal Online reports that "Prices of existing homes continued to drop across the Volusia-Flagler market in February, but that helped spur another month of increased sales. The median sales price — where half sold for less and half for more — in the two-county area in February was $132,400, down 23 percent from $171,700 in February 2008, according to the Florida Association of Realtors. The median sales price had not been that low since August 2003."
Those low prices have finally boosted sales, as buyers and investors realize the bottom may be near or here, and President Obama is making positive moves to help the housing market.
For the condo market, "The median sales price for condominiums tumbled to $133,300 in February. That was 44 percent less than the $238,200 price last year." Numbers sold in February decreased 10% from that month last year, and the inventory of condo units remains high.
I'm optimistic though - let's be positive for 2009. This is a good start and in the right direction!
